We purchased this almost a year ago from Amazon and it has been great! We love that you can raise the basket and it latches in the up position out on the oil. Put your frozen fries or whatever you are frying in the basket and close the lid. yes you are able to close the lid with the basket in the up position! After you have loaded the basket and closed the lid lower your food into the oil and you are protected from splatter!! To take them out raise the basket to the up position out of the oil and let it drain a few minutes open the lid. Again since the food was raised when you opened the lid not much splatter. Keep in mind though that when loading the Cooldaddy with the basket up that there can still be splatter from really small pieces of food that falls through the basket like tiny chipped of pieces of fries or ice. Great product!

Shorter but overall happy with purchase. No on/off button or timer did sort of upset my sister but she learned to work with it.

This is an awesome Deep Fryer. My French fries never tasted so good. I even made deep fried battered squash in it, was very delicious. Easy to operate, easy to clean. Love the fact that I can lower the basket with the lid closed to prevent splatter of oil. This was a great buy.

I just recently purchased this item for my home. I have used it twice already, once to cook fries and another time to fry chicken drum sticks. So far so good, every thing cooks evenly. I had to puchase a deep fryer because my stove cooks at an exceptionally fast rate, therefore the outside would cook faster than the inside. I was very discouraged with frying chicken to the point that I would bake or broil chicken more than anything.

Now with my new deep fryer I can once again enjoy fried chicken at least three times a month.

I purchased this as a gift for my husband. He has used it once and we are planning to return it. The handle gets hot. When you lower the basket into the oil it causes the steam to escape from around the handle..thus causing my husband a burn two of his fingers. As far as function, per my hubby, it worked alright and he liked the adjustable heat.
